While Wade may have the best name recognition here in Hawaii, his high demand puts his board prices at a premium. You can find his stock boards in Hawaii surf shops or go straight through him for a custom order. With big name pros knocking on his door everyday, don’t expect to to develop a surfer/shaper relationship like Kelly and Al. 11 Comments »By participating in online discussions you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to the TERMS OF SERVICE. Tokoro owners also mentioned that they think he’s got the rocker down and other dimensions and specs down to a T. You would think with today’s technology that boards from good shapers would be almost the same but Tokoro riders swear that these boards are the fastest and most responsive out there. I’ve yet to try one but hopefully will sometime in the near future. All the other Tokoro riders out there…leave us some feedback. Mahalo. Bryson Tokoro, on February 28, 2008 @ 10:25 pm |hey, um i’m Wade’s younger cousin and i stop by the shop once in a while and I really don’t know much about surfboards but I do know that he has (EXCELLENT) boards because im just a beginner and God Bless, Nate, on March 1, 2008 @ 10:32 pm |Wade’s shapes are the best hands down. If you’ve ever seen him surf you’d be able to understand why. The guy should be on tour. Dan, on May 14, 2008 @ 10:09 pm |I’ve got a few of Wade’s boards available for rent. Check em’ out on the Hawaii Surfboard Rentals website. Bill, on June 23, 2008 @ 8:55 pm |Picked up a Tokoro (jennie Chesser model) this evening on a trade, board looks to be ridden once. 6’x12x20x15x2.75 pretty flat rocker, single to dbl. Lost a bunch of weight recently from 210+ down to 173 so was skeptical but liked the #’s. Rode it at baby queens in junk surf at sunset and was stoked by 2nd wave. Board is fast and super responsive, catches waves easier than I expected, the glasser did a sick job with the hard rails. I’m way stoked, feel like a 35 yr old kid. Can’t wait till tomorrow’s swell. Darren Tatsuno can shape and surf insane too…. Lauren, on June 29, 2008 @ 2:15 pm |My daughter likes your boards and she’s only 12 years old. Her dad has three of your boards. Which one day will belong to her, since her dad is deceased. No worries, shes fine 😀 Nick, on December 9, 2008 @ 8:10 pm |i have a kerry tokoro board. 6’0″. I love it. turns really fast and responsive. i surf on the north shore, mostly at chuns reef and lanis. Ricky C., on December 22, 2008 @ 9:48 am |I’ve been surfing for about 24 years now and I’ve tried many different shapes since I started. I can honestly say that Wade’s boards are the best “hands down”! Every single board that I’ve had from him worked unreal. As a matter of fact, each time I got a new one from him it worked killer the first time I rode it. I now live on the Big Island and finding his boards here are very difficult but it’s definitely worth it to fly up to Oahu to pick one up and bring it back. One more thing about Wade himself, the guy shreds and is a very humble man who loves God. Aloha! Debbie Mariko, on August 26, 2009 @ 9:56 am |I have a hand-me-down Kerry Tokoro board from at least 25 years ago, it is still being surfed by 12 yrs old surfers in Manhattan Beach. Noah is sponsored, that is how good the Tokoro brother’s board are!!! Mavin Nakagawa, on January 31, 2010 @ 10:08 pm |Wade makes Knee boards too. The latest one I bought is 5’8″ First day out, a surfer liked the shape and thought it was a surf board. Similiar in shape but slightly wider. It works great at Diamond Head. Very easy to catch those mushy waves. Leave a comment |

Hey, I’m rather new to surfing. About a year ago before being deployed to Iraq I was looking for a shortboard to start on. I found a Wade Tokoro, Local Motion, Bruce Irons in a pawn shop and bought it. It’s a 6’5 tri fin and pretty thin and narrow. I was curious if you might have any further scoop on what type waves this board is good for and the max weight of a person to ride. I was about 185 when I bought it and it was kind of sluggish, ow I’m about 148-150. I surf in NC on pretty small inconsistent waves. Any help would be great. Thanks, Sam “G”
