Filed in: Surfboard Questions | On: December 28th, 2007 | Comments: (9) Does anyone know of a company called style eyes of California? My son brought home an old surfboard and that name is on the board and like a wave/ sun logo on it and we don’t know much about it and we would like to know if that company is still in business and we are in Virginia and have never been to California. Can you please help us. 9 Comments »By participating in online discussions you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to the TERMS OF SERVICE. The majority of our line is priced from $20.00 – $30.00 retail. Same great quality, just a friendlier price. Richard, on April 2, 2008 @ 12:41 pm |Hey there, i had the same thing. The other day i got hold or a real old skool beaten up single fin that i am restoring and its got style eyes stickers all over it. I have had a look around on the internet but cant find anything about the company. I was trying to find out information on the company as i was trying to date the board as it has no dementions or shaper written on it. eugene, on May 6, 2009 @ 5:45 am |There’s a Style Eyes company in Durban, South Africa. If memory serves it was brought out from the states in the 70s by a local surfer Paul Naude. Darin Owen now owns the company and I think they’re now into street clothing as well (like billabong). maria, on April 29, 2010 @ 7:38 am |Style eyes of California in Durban is a Fabric distributor that supplies fabric to factory’s in newcastle and Durban i work for a transport company and we transport the fabric on a daily basis from their to newcastle so it is not a surfboard or sunglasses place it tottaly something else. mark smith, on May 13, 2010 @ 7:57 am |If your talking about Style Eys Sun Glasses the protect sucks. Bought a pair an they fell apart in two weeks. The lenses are way too dark and distored. Never buy them. Style eyes of california were operational in the eighties. I used to buy their sunglasses all the time. They had very strong frames, and offered great prtectiion. I used to buy them from surf shops (imported) in cornwall england.
I tried finding them again acouple of years ago, and had no luck. The brand ‘style eyes’ seems like it is now owned by a cheaper end company available of the rack in city sports stores for around thirty dollars. The glasses are now pretty ordinary looking and typical of that price range.
If you do find the originals and they are still operational, I would love to know as their glasses used to really rock.
