They were in a great position as the surfing industry exploded in popularity in the following years. Several years later, Gordon & Smith Surfboards experienced tremendous growth and Gordon passed his shaping duties over to his talented team which included Mike Hynson, Roger Ross, Jim Hovde, Paul Bordieri, Bobby Thomas, Rusty Priesendorfer, Hoy Runnels, Terry Goldsmith, Steve Seebold, Hank Warner, John Holly, Mike Eaton, Robin Prodonovich and Larry Mabile. Gordon & Smith Surfboards was one of California’s premiere surfboard labels from the 1960’s through the 1990’s and were also credited as pioneers of the skateboard industry. They ran four surf shops and created their own clothing line. You’ll also find a number of Gordan & Smith’s master shapes in the Surftech epoxy line. 4 Comments »By participating in online discussions you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to the TERMS OF SERVICE. Shaped by Terry Goldsmith and this was the best surfboard i have ever owned. Congrats to Barbara Robertson, on March 28, 2011 @ 3:50 pm |I kept my G&S 9’6″ Hy 2 I got new in the mid 60’s until I moved to Hawaii 5 years ago. I came with the shirt on my back. Oh and a body board on my back too. I sold it to a good friend who said he would sell it back to me if I couldn’t stand to be without it. Bad knees and no shipping container made the sad choice easy. However, I think about it all the time. FYI I think I paid $125 and $25 shipping to NJ back in the day. mike d, on April 28, 2012 @ 5:04 pm |I own a G&S SS model stepdeck that is 9’4″. If anyone can help me find out the shaper, I would be very thankful. On the deck it has the numbers 0784 just under the “SS” logo with 07 on one side of the stringer and 84 on the other….please help. Thanks, Mike D., CRECENT BCH .fLORIDA Leave a comment |
